METALLIC REFLECTIVE INSULATION

 
          We here with introduce a latest, indigenous better and superior quality of insulation system. 'The Metallic mirror, Reflective Insulation System', for various types of process vessels, associated piping & its equipments mostly used in Nuclear, Thermal & process Industries, a better alternative to the conventional Insulation.
          After increasing awareness developed in keeping plants clean and safe, reducing trouble shooting problems and downtimes during shutdown period, the Metallic Reflective Insulation is playing a major role in satisfying all you needs.
          The Reflective insulation is a thermal insulation that, reduces heat transfer across spaces by the use of surface of high reflection and low emittance.
          The Metallic Reflective Insulation is presently in use in all modern, advance countries and has become very popular because of its many Advantages over Metallic Reflective Insulation is :
          Sturdy & Robust - Since it is fabricated from Aluminum / Stainless steel sheets it is sturdy & Robust in shapes, has a high mechanical strength, And has no mechanical disintegration.
          Since it is all metal construction it is,
 
 - Free from fire Hazards - as it does not absorb any liquids, flammable fluids, Repairs can be attained quickly   by removing the particular piece only, hence reduces the maintenance cost and saves the time period.
 - Water and weather proof - It doesn't sustain any bacteria, vermin etc, is corrosion free as has nothing to absorb atmospheric moisture, condensation or other fluids which causes corrosion hence it is most effective in hygienical Industries.

- Elegant in appearance - As surface is highly polished, it looks very elegant in appearance, No Dusting can be clean very easily event if it gets contaminated.
- Easy and quick removal and reinstallation repeated removal and reinstallation can be achieved in less time without disturbing its insulating characteristics. Which reduces both labour cost and personal exposure to radiation. There for its cost - effectiveness is unmatched.

The principal of metallic Reflective Insulation is that unlike conventional insulation consisting of asbestos magnesia, which acts as an insulating barrier due to low conductance. The metallic Reflective Insulation works on a well known principle of reflection of radiant heat from hot surface by highly polished surface.

It consists of Multiple layers of highly polished surface with dead air cells in between, radiates back all the heat keeping outer environment at near ambient temperature and conserving process heat.

The metallic Reflective Insulation was primarily introduced & designed specially for, Nuclear Power reactor vessels, associated piping and equipments located within drywell of reactor behind biological shield, as the insulation needs to be free from contamination by chloride contain asbestos.

The Metallic Reflective Insulation is fabricated from light gauge, highly polished stainless steel/ Aluminum OR a combination of both. It is free from dust, corrosion can be clean if gents contaminated, looks clean in appearance throughout its life, Hence it is a one time investment only.

For pipes it is fabricated in two halves, equipped with snap locks, snaps buckles and latches for easy and quick removal and reinstallation for routine inspection without disturbing other pieces. Lifting handles for holding and positioning up to proper elevation and provided with pockets for special instruction or marking serial numbers so that, each piece can be quickly identified. It provides maximum access in minimum time. The quick removal and reinstallation of metallic reflective insulation on piping and equipments reduces both labour cost and personal exposure to radiation also no additional re-insulation cost.

The Metallic reflective Insulation is fabricated in standard length to suit any shape with accurate fitting for any size of pipes, pipe fittings like Elbows, Miters, Tee's etc. and equipments such as Valves, pumps, heat exchangers and Storage Tanks in panels form.

The Assembly of metallic Reflective Insulation contains Dimple /pressed parts of fine stainless steel/Aluminum sheets assemble with keeping pre-designed air gaps, covered from all sides with reinforced stainless steel covers, welded with each other. It's
unique design takes into considerations all modes of heat transfer - conduction, convection and radiation, while utilizing radiant heat transfer it provides an efficient, insulation system.

The metallic Reflective Insulation not only insulates effectively, but won't contribute to hydrogen generation, even if spray systems are activated. The conventional mass type, insulations absorbs the borated water or sodium spray solution, which leaves the insulation ineffective for its intended use, Eventually it deteriorates increasing the possibility of having particles drop to floor and clog sump or chocking the nozzles. It often requires longer inspection outage, are often permanently damaged when removed requiring new insulation. As it is heavier it takes more man hours to perform a comparable inspection. In metallic reflective insulation these problems doesn't not arise.

The system is developed as per the requirements of ASME sect - IX, a definite, designed formats as a guideline towards materials, fabrication, Erection, Inspection and Testing was framed as per relevant ASTM specifications. Ref. No. C-667-92/ C-335-89/C-845-90/C-168/C-1033-85. Various tests on sample piece were carried out before fridgeing the design  concept. These tests were witnessed appreciated by our customers - Chief Superintendent / section Head (QA) Tarapur Atomic Power Station, Tarapur. 

Hope we have tried our level best to introduce this latest system as a better alternative to hazardous conve- ntional Insulation, after achieving best results/performance at TARAPUR ATOMIC POWER STATION 1 & 2.
